Contra - Hard Corps

Getting started in Contra Hard Corps is straightforward. Boot up the game and you'll be greeted by a short title screen, then you can choose from four different characters. Each character has unique weapons and abilities, so pick one that fits your style. The core loop is simple: run from left to right, blast every enemy in sight, dodge bullets and obstacles, and reach the end of each stage. You can play alone or with a buddy in two-player co-op, which is easily the best way to experience the mayhem.

What makes Contra Hard Corps stand out is the branching paths and multiple endings. During the game, you'll encounter dialog choices that affect which stage you go to next and ultimately how the story wraps up. This adds replay value since you'll want to see all the different outcomes. Don't expect any save feature, though; it's old school design. Pay attention to power-ups scattered through the stages, especially the weapon upgrades that make a huge difference against the relentless bosses. Keep moving forward, never stop shooting, and memorize enemy patterns to survive. It's tough, but fair once you get the hang of it.
