What is Contra Spirits?

Contra Spirits (Japan) is a 1992 run and gun video game developed and published by Konami for the Super NES. Play as either Jimbo or Sully across six stages, four presented as side-scrolling action and two presented from an overhead perspective. In PAL regions the game was retitled Super Probotector: Alien Rebels and the player characters were replaced with robots. The title was the first Contra game directed by Nobuya Nakazato, who designed it to feature more comical elements, a more cinematic soundtrack, and tighter stage design than its predecessors.
