Getting Started

Pick a slot, choose your save file (or start a new game), and you'll be dropped into Angel Island Zone.
Right from the first level you'll notice you're playing as Hyper Sonic. That means you're invincible to common enemies, spikes, and pitfalls, and your movement speed is noticeably higher than regular Sonic. The controls are the same as normal Sonic 3, so jump with X, spin dash by holding down and pressing S, and use the D-Pad to move. The lack of conventional danger means you can focus on exploring every route, finding hidden bonus stages via giant rings, and collecting all seven Chaos Emeralds to unlock the full ending.
Because the core level design is unchanged, the hack simply removes the threat of damage. Bosses still require hitting them multiple times to defeat, and you can still drown in water sections if you don't grab air bubbles.
