Come Back Toto

Come Back Toto is an arcade game that appeared in the late 1980s, published by Sega. It falls into the action-platformer genre, common for that era's coin-op scene. The game is not as widely known as other Sega titles, but it found a niche among fans of simple, charming arcade challenges. While exact development details are sparse, it was designed for standard arcade hardware of the time. In Come Back Toto, the player controls a dog named Toto through a series of side-scrolling stages. The primary objective is to collect bones scattered across each level while avoiding various enemies. Toto can jump and move left or right, using timing to dodge hazards. The game keeps a straightforward loop: clear each stage by grabbing all items, then advance to a new, slightly harder layout. There are no complex combos or power-ups beyond basic speed boosts. For retro gamers, Come Back Toto offers a brief, uncomplicated experience that captures the pick-up-and-play spirit of 1980s arcades. It is not a groundbreaking title, but it has a certain appeal for collectors and fans of obscure Sega games. Compared to more famous platformers of the era, it feels simpler and shorter, but that simplicity can be refreshing. If you enjoy hunting down oddities from arcade history, this one is worth a quick play-through.
