Getting Started

Drop a coin to start - you control a small plane (the Boogie Wing) that moves left and right across the screen while automatically scrolling horizontally. Your basic attack fires straight ahead, but you can pick up power-ups dropped by destroyed enemies to upgrade your weapon or gain a secondary shot. The goal is to blast through waves of enemy planes, ground turrets, and other hazards while avoiding their fire.

The core loop is simple: dodge bullets, shoot everything, collect glowing items. Each stage ends with a boss - usually a larger, heavily armed craft that requires you to learn its attack pattern. You have a limited number of lives and continues, so watch your health bar and don't get greedy. The game throws plenty of bullets your way, but movement feels tight once you get used to the plane's turning radius.

If you're new, start by staying in the lower third of the screen where enemy fire is less dense, and focus on grabbing weapon upgrades early. The plane can also do a quick barrel roll (using the A button - Y on the mapping - to dodge), but its timing is strict. Practice the first stage a few times to get a feel for the hitbox and power-up placements. There's no continue button - just insert another credit if you game over.
