Getting Started

Fire up the game and press Start (Enter) to begin. The screen will show a brief attract mode, then you're dropped right into the first stage. You control a character that moves in all eight directions using the arrow keys, and your main attack is the B button (S). Use the A button (X) to jump, which helps dodge ground-level hazards or reach platforms. The goal is simple: shoot every alligator and enemy creature that appears, collect power-up icons to upgrade your weapon, and survive until the stage boss.

The core loop is straightforward: walk through the side-scrolling level, blast enemies, avoid their projectiles, and grab any item drops. Don't stand still too long - enemies spawn from both directions. When you see a flashing icon, pick it up; it might change your shot to a spread or a flame. Each stage ends with a boss fight that requires you to learn its attack pattern. You have a limited number of lives, but you can earn continues by inserting more credits (Press Select for a coin, then Start to continue).

If you're new to this game, don't worry about memorizing everything upfront. Focus on staying in motion and shooting at anything that moves. The weapon power-ups are key, so prioritize grabbing them. When you die, you lose your current weapon level, so try to stay alive longer by keeping your distance from enemies. It's an arcade game, so expect a steep difficulty curve - practice makes perfect.
