Getting Started

When you boot up Alien vs. Predator, you'll first see a brief attract sequence, then the title screen. Press Start (Enter key) to begin. You'll be prompted to select your character: Dutch or Linn Kurosawa (humans) or the Predator or Hunter (Predators). Each has different stats and weapons, but the core combat is similar. After choosing, you enter the first stage and the action starts immediately.

The main loop is straightforward: walk right, fight enemies, collect health and weapon pickups, and defeat a mid-boss before facing a larger boss at the end of each stage. You have a health bar and a limited supply of grenades or special attacks that can clear the screen. The game supports up to three players simultaneously, so if you're playing alone, you'll have AI companions or just go it alone. The objective is to survive the onslaught of aliens and human soldiers across multiple levels, culminating in a final confrontation with the Alien Queen.

Important tips: keep moving to avoid being surrounded, use your jump attack to quickly close distance, and save your special weapon for large groups or bosses. The buttons are mapped for convenience; the A button (X key) is used for jumping and confirming selections, while the B button (S key) is your primary attack. Experiment with button combinations to find throws and special moves, as they are not listed in-game.
