You take control of one of three warriors - a barbarian, an amazon, or a dwarf - all out to overthrow the evil Death Adder and retrieve the legendary Golden Axe. The game plays like a classic brawler: you move left to right across fantasy landscapes, fighting waves of enemies like skeletons, knights, and lizardmen. Each character has a unique attack and magic ability powered by collected potions. The magic attacks are flashy and screen-clearing. You also find rideable beasts like dragons and giant chickens that add extra damage. The objective is to survive each stage, defeat the mini-boss, and finally take down Death Adder in his fortress. How to play Golden Axe online

Getting started: When the game boots, press Start to see a title screen. You choose your character by pressing left or right and confirming with X. Each warrior has different stats: the barbarian (Ax Battler) is balanced, the amazon (Tyris Flare) has stronger magic, and the dwarf (Gilius Thunderhead) is slower but hits harder. Pick whichever fits your style. The core loop is simple: walk to the right, fight anything that moves. Use the attack button (S) to swing your weapon or kick. Press X to jump, and press attack while jumping for an aerial strike. You can also press X near a downed enemy to stomp on them for extra damage. Collect blue magic potions to fill your magic bar, then press Z (Y button) to unleash a powerful magic attack specific to your character. Enemies come in groups, so watch your back - new enemies often spawn from the sides of the screen. You have a health bar and limited lives. Dying costs a continue, but you can keep going. The goal is to clear all eight stages and defeat Death Adder. There is no save, so finish in one sitting or use the emulator's save state feature if you need a break.
