Getting Started

Fire Mustang puts you in control of a helicopter seen from above. You scroll through horizontally or vertically oriented stages, shooting down enemy tanks, planes, and ground units. The core loop is simple: move your chopper around the screen, dodge enemy fire, and blast anything that moves. Power-ups appear from destroyed enemies, usually upgrading your main weapon or adding spread shots.

Since this is a Japanese-only title, all menus and on-screen text are in Japanese. The main menu likely offers options like start, continue, and a high score table. Pressing Start typically begins the game. There are no complicated mechanics beyond shooting and dodging, so even without reading the language you can jump right in. Focus on pattern recognition - enemy waves often follow set paths. The difficulty ramps up quickly, so expect to retry stages often.

A new player should experiment with the weapon power-ups because some are stronger against certain enemy types. Also watch for a smart bomb or special weapon button, usually mapped to the Y or X button. The game expects you to learn attack patterns through repetition. If you get stuck, try memorizing where enemies spawn and which power-ups drop so you can plan your route.
