This is Frogger 2, an action game released on Xbox Live Arcade in 2008. Developed by Voltex and published by Konami, it's the third game to carry the Frogger 2 name. Here it is played on a Game Boy Color emulator, which is unusual because it never originally came out on handhelds - this is a straight-up Xbox 360 title ported or reproduced for another system. If you grew up with the arcade original, you'll recognize the basic idea, but this version adds more modern twists and a fresher coat of paint. The genre is pure arcade action; you guide a frog across busy roads and rivers to reach safety, just like always. The core objective in Frogger 2 is navigating your frog from the bottom of the screen to the top across multiple lanes of traffic and hazards. You hop left, right, forward, and backward to dodge cars, avoid sinking in water, and time your moves against moving logs and turtles. Unlike later Frogger games, this one emphasizes score-chasing and quick reflexes rather than a deep story. Each level presents a new layout with unique obstacles, and you must bring a set number of frogs home before time runs out. There are power-ups scattered around, but the meat of the game is mastering the rhythm of each crossing. What makes this version worth trying today is its place in the long-running series. It was built for high-definition consoles, so on the Game Boy Color screen it loses the visual polish but keeps the tight responsive controls.
