Dragon Quest III - Soshite Densetsu he... (Japan) is the Game Boy Color port of the classic RPG originally released on the Famicom. Published by Enix in 2000 exclusively for Japanese audiences, this version brings the epic quest to a portable format while retaining the core story and turn-based combat. The title translates to "Dragon Quest III: And Then the Legend..." and is part of the iconic Dragon Quest series that helped define the JRPG genre in the 8-bit era. Players guide a group of heroes through a sprawling fantasy world, exploring towns and dungeons, battling monsters in turn-based encounters, and leveling up their characters. The job system allows customization of party members' classes, adding strategic depth as you progress. The Game Boy Color adaptation features a full-color overworld and menus, with adjustments to fit the smaller screen. The game's structure is non-linear to some degree, encouraging exploration to advance the story. This version is notable for its faithful recreation of the original's scope on a handheld, with improved graphics and sound for the GBC hardware. While the Japanese text may be a barrier for non-readers, the game itself remains a masterpiece of design and a cornerstone of the series. For retro enthusiasts, it's a chance to experience one of the most influential RPGs in a portable form, though the language barrier means it's best suited for those who know the game or are willing to use a guide.

How to play Dragon Quest III - Soshite Densetsu he... online

To start playing, press Enter to bring up the main menu. Since this is the Japanese version, all text is in Japanese, so you'll need to navigate by memory or a guide if you don't read the language. The first option in the menu is typically "New Game." Use the D-Pad (Arrow Keys) to move the cursor and press X to confirm. Once in the game, explore towns and the overworld by moving with Arrow Keys. Press X to talk to NPCs and examine things, and press S to open the menu for saving, checking equipment, or using items. Combat occurs randomly as you walk through dungeons or the world map. When a battle starts, select commands from a menu - attack, defend, magic, or items - using the D-Pad and confirm with X. The core loop: travel to new locations, talk to townspeople to learn where to go, buy gear, then venture into caves or towers to advance the story. Save frequently at churches (the building with a roof cross) by pressing S and selecting the save option. The game is a full RPG, so expect a long journey requiring patience and gradual character growth.
