Zoop (USA)
Zoop (USA) - Puzzle Classic
Zoop is a puzzle game that hit the Sega Genesis in 1995, alongside a ton of other platforms like the SNES, PlayStation, and even the Jaguar. It was cooked up by Hookstone and published by Viacom New Media. If you've ever played Taito's Plotting, you'll recognize the basic idea, but Zoop runs in real-time, making it a whole different beast. It's not a flashy action game or a platformer - it's pure, fast-twitch puzzle action that demands quick thinking.
How to Play Zoop (USA) Online
Getting Started
When you fire up Zoop, you'll see a square playfield with pieces spawning from the four edges, all moving toward the center. Your goal is to stop them before they reach the middle. Point your cursor at an incoming piece and shoot it to either swap its color with yours or eliminate it altogether. The core loop is all about matching or swapping colors in real-time to clear the board.
Pay attention to the piece's color and movement speed. If a piece reaches the center, you lose a life. The game gradually speeds up and throws more complex patterns at you. There's no save feature here - it's a high-score chase through escalating difficulty. Focus on clearing the closest threats first, and try to chain eliminations for bonus points.
