World Class Leaderboard Golf for the SEGA Genesis is a European release of the classic golf simulation that originally started on home computers. It arrived on 16-bit consoles in the early 1990s, published by U.S. Gold. This is an official port of the Leaderboard series, known for its realistic approach to the sport for its time. You play rounds of golf across fictional courses, aiming to complete 18 holes with the fewest strokes. The core mechanic revolves around a three-click swing system: you press the button to start the backswing, again to set power, and a final time to lock accuracy. Wind direction, terrain slope, and club selection all factor into each shot. The game offers a top-down view for planning shots and a side view for putting. Today, World Class Leaderboard Golf serves as a solid example of early 16-bit sports gaming. It doesn't have the graphical polish or depth of later titles, but it captures the essence of golf sims from that era. If you enjoy retro sports games and want to see how golf translated to the Genesis, this is a straightforward, playable entry. It's a niche pick, but faithful to its source material.

How to play World Class Leaderboard Golf online

Getting Started When you start World Class Leaderboard Golf, choose a course and set the number of players. The game supports single-player rounds or two-player alternating play. After selecting, you will be on the tee box. Your first task is to pick a club from the menu - the game automatically suggests one based on distance, but you can override it. The swing uses a timing meter at the bottom of the screen. Press the A button (X key) to begin the backswing; the power bar will rise. Press A again to stop it at your desired power level. Then a smaller accuracy marker appears inside a target zone. Press A one final time to stop the marker as close to the center as possible. A perfect stop gives a straight shot; off-center causes a hook or slice. After each shot, you walk to the ball's new position and repeat. Pay attention to wind direction and elevation changes shown on the screen. Putting works similarly but with a much shorter power bar. The goal is to land the ball on the green and sink it into the hole. Play all 18 holes and compare your score to par. The game is in English, so menus are straightforward.
