Where in Time Is Carmen Sandiego

Where in Time Is Carmen Sandiego is a spin-off of the classic educational franchise, bringing its signature blend of geography and history to the SEGA Genesis. This version was released in the early 1990s for both North American and European markets, and it supports multiple languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian). It's an official port of the popular computer game, so you're getting the same detective-style learning experience on a home console. Your job is to chase down a gang of time-traveling criminals by hopping through different eras and locations around the world. You'll gather clues from historical figures, examine artifacts, and use an electronic almanac to narrow down when and where each crook is hiding. Once you've gathered enough evidence, you issue a warrant and make an arrest. It's less about fast reflexes and more about careful reading and logic. For its era, this game stands out as one of the few educational titles on the Genesis that actually feels like a proper adventure. The time-travel angle makes it more varied than the original Carmen Sandiego games, and the interface is surprisingly snappy for a console port. If you enjoy puzzles and want a break from shoot-em-ups, this is a charming piece of edutainment that still holds up for a quick playthrough.
