Tatsujin ~ Truxton

Tatsujin ~ Truxton is a vertical shooter: you pilot a ship through waves of enemies while dodging bullets and collecting power-ups. Press the X key (A button) to fire your main weapon; holding down the S key (B button) releases a limited number of smart bombs that clear the screen. The D-Pad moves your ship in eight directions, and you'll want to keep moving constantly to survive the dense bullet patterns. Each stage ends with a boss that requires pattern recognition and quick reflexes. A key mechanic to learn is the weapon upgrade system. Destroying certain enemies releases glowing power-ups that change your shot type - some spread wide, some concentrate fire. Pick up the same type repeatedly to max out that weapon's power. Blue orbs increase your speed, while red orbs add satellite options that shoot alongside you. The game does not continue on the arcade version, so you only have a limited number of lives. The Genesis release keeps that hardcore arcade feel, so expect to memorize patterns to push further. Menus are in English for this World version, so navigation is straightforward.
