How to play Sonic the Hedgehog online

Getting Started This hack plays exactly like the original Sonic the Hedgehog for the Genesis. Your first task is to select your game mode (usually "Start" from the title screen) and then you'll be dropped into Green Hill Zone, the opening stage. The goal is to run to the right, avoid obstacles, and reach the end of the act while collecting rings. Rings protect you from a single hit; without them, touching an enemy or hazard costs you a life. You can accelerate by holding the D-Pad in the direction you want to run, and pressing the jump button (X) to leap over pits or onto platforms. To perform a spin dash, hold down for a moment then press jump. This builds up speed and can break through certain walls. Each zone has three acts; after the third act, you face a boss enemy controlled by Dr. Eggman. Defeat the boss to move to the next zone. Since this is an English-language hack of the USA/Europe release, all menus and text should be in English. No special navigation is needed. If you find the game too difficult, you can use the retro gaming site's save state feature to practice tricky sections. Have fun and remember: it's okay to lose rings, just try to stay alive.
