How to play Sonic the Hedgehog online

Getting Started

Start the hack by pressing Enter to see the title screen. If there's a menu, use the D-Pad to move and X to select. The game usually begins at Green Hill Zone, but this hack may change the starting level. Press Start to begin.

Your main objective is to run to the right side of each level, avoiding or destroying enemies, collecting rings for protection, and grabbing power-ups like speed shoes or invincibility. At the end of each zone, you'll face a boss, usually Doctor Eggman in a contraption. Defeating him advances you to the next act.

Because this is a hack called 'Backward Play', pay attention to whether you are actually moving left instead of right, or if the level order is reversed. The core mechanics are the same as the original, so you can still spin dash by holding down and pressing jump. If you lose all rings and get hit, you'll lose a life. Collect 100 rings for an extra life.
