Sonic the Hedgehog - Revelation is a fan-made ROM hack of the original Sonic the Hedgehog for the SEGA Genesis. It's one of those community-driven modifications that reappeared in online archives, likely created by an anonymous modder. The hack takes the familiar blue blur and shuffles things around - whether that means new level layouts, altered object placements, or tweaked difficulty is part of the mystery for players to discover. You control Sonic as he dashes through side-scrolling stages, collecting rings and defeating enemies by jumping on them or rolling into them. The core gameplay remains the same run, jump, spin, and reach the goal sign. But since this is a hack, the exact arrangement of platforms, pits, and badniks has been changed from the original. The goal is still to finish each act as quickly as you can, grabbing power-ups like speed shoes and invincibility along the way. For anyone who has played the original Genesis Sonic to death, Revelation offers a fresh experience without straying far from the formula. It's a niche find, more interesting to ROM-hack enthusiasts than to casual players. The hack doesn't rewrite the book - it just gives you a new chapter to run through. Honest talk: if you're not into modded classics, it may not stand out, but for those who enjoy seeing a beloved game get remixed, it's worth a spin.

How to play Sonic the Hedgehog - Revelation online

Get started by pressing Enter to go past the title screen. In a standard Sonic hack you begin at Green Hill Zone, but Revelation might drop you somewhere else. Use the D-Pad to move left or right, hold down to duck or roll. Press X to jump over obstacles and onto enemies. Press and hold S to run faster. Your main goal is to reach the end of each act while collecting as many rings as possible. Losing all rings means one more hit kills you. If the hack includes special stages or alternate paths, you'll need to explore to find them. The core loop is short: pick a zone, clear the acts, face a boss. Checkpoints are scattered throughout, marked by little star posts. Most of the original game's physics are still here, so you can still build up speed and bounce off springs. Play around with the controls to get a feel for the rhythm of each level.
