Getting Started

When you load the game, you're dropped straight into a familiar but twisted version of Green Hill Zone. The core loop is unchanged from standard Sonic: run from left to right, jump on enemies, collect rings, and reach the goal post before time runs out. But here almost every surface is lined with spikes, so a single misstep can cost you a life instantly. Rings become your only safety net, so grab every one you see - getting hit without rings means death.

The level layouts are modified to force you into tight corridors and jumps over endless spike pits. Enemies are placed at nasty angles, and the classic golden ring continues to grant temporary invincibility if you hold enough rings after being hit. Boss fights appear at the end of each zone, but even they are trickier, with spike traps added to their arenas. There is no save system, so you have to complete each act in one sitting - standard for the Genesis era.

If you are new to the hack, start by memorizing the spike patterns. Don't rush; patience is more valuable than speed here. The game doesn't introduce new mechanics, only extreme remixes of familiar obstacles. It is entirely in English, with no text changes from the original. Expect to die a lot, but that is the point of this painful world.
