SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3 - MASTER EDITION 3 SHC2024 Demo

This is a fan-made demo hack of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, created for the Sonic Hacking Contest 2024 (SHC2024). It runs on the Sega Genesis and is titled 'Master Edition 3'. As a demo entry, it showcases modifications to the original game's levels, mechanics, or visuals, though exact changes are documented only by the contest entry. The demo was released in 2024 as part of the annual SHC event, and its creator is not widely publicized beyond the contest submission. Gameplay follows the classic Sonic formula: you control Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles through side-scrolling stages, collecting rings, defeating enemies like Badniks, and reaching the goal ring. The demo likely includes a selection of acts from the original game with custom layouts or new elements, such as altered enemy placement, modified terrain, or remixed music. Ring collection and speed-based platforming remain central, with the goal of reaching the end of each zone while avoiding hazards like spikes and pits. This demo is worth trying if you are a Sonic fan interested in the hacking community's creativity. It gives a glimpse into how modders reinterpret a beloved classic for contests like SHC. While it may not overhaul the experience drastically, its modest changes and contest context make it a niche curiosity for retro gaming enthusiasts. It is not a full game, but a short playable showcase from a specific scene.
