ROM Hack

Unofficial ROM hack. The notes below come from community sources and have not been verified against the patch itself, so levels, mechanics and features may differ from what is described.

Sonic Revelation is a ROM hack for the SEGA Genesis, modifying the original Sonic the Hedgehog game. It is an unofficial fan-made creation, not a commercial release, and its exact origin and release date are not widely documented. The hack reworks level layouts, sometimes adding new zones or altering existing ones, giving players a fresh but familiar experience on the same hardware. Players control Sonic the Hedgehog through side-scrolling stages, collecting rings, defeating enemies, and reaching the end of each act. The core loop remains true to the classic Sonic formula: speed through loops, avoid obstacles, and defeat Dr. Robotnik at the zone's end. If this hack includes rebalanced physics or new gimmicks, those details are not consistently documented, so expect the usual running and jumping with potentially rearranged terrain. As a ROM hack, Sonic Revelation offers a new way to play a beloved classic without needing new hardware. It's worth trying if you've exhausted the original game and want a challenge with different level designs. Just keep in mind it's a niche fan project, not a polished official title, so quality and difficulty may vary.

How to play Sonic Revelation online

Sonic Revelation is a platformer where you guide Sonic through modified levels. Start by pressing Enter to begin the game. Use the Arrow Keys to move left or right, press X to jump, and hold S while moving to roll into enemies or break items. The goal of each stage is to reach the end signpost while collecting rings and avoiding traps. Since this is a ROM hack, there are no new instructions or menus beyond the original Sonic game's interface. The primary difference is the level layout - expect surprises and rearranged obstacles. If you get stuck, remember that Sonic's spin dash (hold down and press X while stationary) can help you gain speed or reach higher platforms. Experiment with the controls to discover any hack-specific changes, but the basics remain the same.
