Sonic - Fast The Hedgehog

Getting started is straightforward because this hack keeps the same menus and level order as the original Sonic the Hedgehog. Press Start to begin from the title screen, then choose your save slot if you have one or start a new game. You'll be dropped into Green Hill Zone Act 1 with Sonic running noticeably faster than normal. The entire point is to adjust to the new speed - reaction times matter more, and you'll need to anticipate loops and jumps a beat earlier than you would in the base game. The core loop hasn't changed: run right, collect rings for protection, avoid spikes and enemies, and reach the end of the act. The speed increase makes rings harder to collect and traps harder to dodge, so expect to die a lot at first. There are no new items or power-ups; it's the same zones, same enemies, same boss patterns - just everything moves faster. If you're playing on an emulator, you can map the controls as listed above; the default EmulatorJS layout works fine. Since this is a straightforward hack, there are no unique mechanics to learn beyond the altered physics. The menus are in English (same as the original Sonic), so no navigation confusion. The biggest tip is to hold down the run button (S) less and rely on momentum - letting go can actually help you stay grounded through tricky platforming sections. It's a simple mod, worth trying if you want a fresh challenge from a game you already know well.
