Sonic 3 Delta is a fan-made ROM hack of the classic SEGA Genesis title Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles. It was created by the modding community and released online, not by Sega. This hack takes the original game and reworks it to include the so-called Delta zones - levels that were cut or altered during the game's initial development. If you are a fan of the original Sonic 3, this is a modified take that breathes new life into a familiar experience. The platformer genre remains at its core, but with noticeable differences in stage layouts and some gameplay tweaks.

Getting Started
Before jumping in, know that this hack runs on the same engine as Sonic 3 & Knuckles. When you start, you will choose a character - Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles - each with their own abilities. The core objective is to race through the Delta zones, collect rings, avoid obstacles, and defeat Dr. Eggman at the end of each level. If you are familiar with the original Sonic 3, the controls are identical: hold right to run, press the jump button to bounce on enemies, and tap the run button to spin dash.
The hack does not include any text-heavy menus, so language is not an issue. You navigate the title screen with start and then select. The trickiest part may be learning the new level layouts, which have been redesigned from prototype data. Some paths are trickier than in the retail game, so expect a few more deaths on your first playthrough. Take your time exploring, as hidden areas can yield extra lives and shields.
