Sonic 2 Delta 0 (version 0.03) is a ROM hack of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the SEGA Genesis. It's a fan-made modification that tweaks the original game's level layouts, enemy placements, and sometimes adds new elements. The exact creator is not widely documented, but this is an early build (0.03) of a hack that reimagines Sonic 2's zones. It runs on the same 16-bit hardware as the original, so you'll need an emulator or a flash cart to play it on real hardware.

Getting Started

Load the ROM in an emulator and press Enter to start. You control Sonic through altered versions of the original zones. The core loop remains the same as Sonic 2: run, jump, collect rings, and defeat enemies by rolling into them or jumping on them. Spinning into enemies or holding down while jumping gives you a spin dash on the ground after charging.

This hack modifies enemy placement and level geometry, so expect surprises even if you know the original game well. The speed and physics are largely intact, but some sections might require trial and error. There are no special instructions beyond the standard Sonic 2 controls, so jump right in and adapt to the new layouts.
