Unofficial ROM hack. The notes below come from community sources and have not been verified against the patch itself, so levels, mechanics and features may differ from what is described.

Sonic 2 Adventure Control is a fan-made ROM hack for the SEGA Genesis, modifying Sonic the Hedgehog 2's control scheme to mimic the more fluid movement and abilities from the Sonic Adventure series. While the exact release date and original creator are not widely documented, the hack has circulated in online communities since the early 2000s. As a platformer built on the core engine of Sonic 2, this hack retains the original level order and visual style but reworks how Sonic responds to player input. You control Sonic as he speeds through familiar zones like Green Hill, Chemical Plant, and Metropolis. The modified controls introduce a jump dash (homing attack) and the ability to use a spin dash with a separate button, closer to the Dreamcast games. The primary goal remains reaching the end of each act by collecting rings, avoiding traps, and defeating Dr. Eggman's robots. New button mappings require some adjustment, but the basic loop of high-speed platforming and exploration stays intact. For players who have exhausted the original Sonic 2 and want a fresh twist on its level design, this hack offers a subtle but meaningful change in feel. It's a niche experiment rather than a full conversion, so don't expect new zones or story. If you enjoy tweaked controls and revisiting classic stages with a different moveset, it's worth a try through emulation. The hack doesn't revolutionize the genre, but it shows how community mods can breathe minor new life into familiar games.

How to play Sonic 2 Adventure Control online

Getting Started: Start the game by pressing Enter at the title screen. You may be prompted to choose a save file - pick an empty slot if available. The hack features English menus, so navigation is straightforward. Select Start to begin a new game. Your goal is to guide Sonic through each zone to the end. Use the D-Pad to move, X to jump (and perform a homing attack in midair if enemies are near), and the spin dash by pressing down and then S (B button). Collect rings to survive hits and try to reach the Goal Plate. The core loop is speed, obstacle avoidance, and occasional enemy encounters. New to this hack? Give yourself a few minutes to get used to the modified controls. The homing attack is context-sensitive and locks onto the nearest enemy. You can also hold the spin dash longer for more speed. Otherwise, the game plays very similarly to the original Sonic 2, so veterans will quickly adapt.
