Sonic 1 Mania Edition Green Hill Encore
Sonic 1 Mania Edition Green Hill Encore: Genesis Platformer
Sonic 1 Mania Edition Green Hill Encore is a fan-made modification of the original Sonic the Hedgehog for the SEGA Genesis. It's not an official Sega release at all - this is a hack created by the community to blend the classic 1991 game with elements from Sonic Mania. The mod focuses exclusively on Green Hill Zone and introduces an Encore mode, a concept borrowed from Sonic Mania Plus that remixes level layouts and enemy placements. The exact creator and release date are not widely documented, but it has been shared on retro gaming sites for players to try.
How to Play Sonic 1 Mania Edition Green Hill Encore Online
Getting Started
When you load the game, you'll see a modified title screen. Press Enter (Start) to proceed. Depending on the build, you may be presented with a menu to choose between the standard Green Hill Zone or the Encore mode - use the D-Pad and press X to select. The core gameplay is the same as the original Sonic 1: control Sonic as he runs from left to right, jumps on enemies, collects rings, and reaches the signpost at the end of each act.
Your goal is to complete three acts of Green Hill Zone. The Encore mode rearranges the level's terrain and item placements, offering a different route through the same scenic backgrounds. Keep an eye out for giant rings that lead to special stages where you can collect Chaos Emeralds by running through a 3D maze. Falling off the screen or getting hit without rings costs a life. The game ends when you run out of lives, but continues can be used.
