Sonic 1 Delta
About Sonic 1 Delta
Sonic 1 Delta is a fan-made ROM hack of the classic SEGA Genesis platformer Sonic the Hedgehog (1991). It was created for a community contest on the Sonic Hacking Contest (SHC) in 2020, and it modifies the original game's levels, layout, and some mechanics. Unlike an official release, this is a mod that reimagines the Green Hill Zone and beyond with new obstacles, altered enemy placements, and tweaks to the flow of each act. If you've played the original Sonic 1, this hack offers a fresh take on familiar stages, though it remains a Genesis-exclusive ROM file intended for emulators or flashcarts.
How to Play Sonic 1 Delta Online
Getting Started
Launching Sonic 1 Delta takes you straight to the title screen just like the original. Press Start to begin the game. You control Sonic as he runs from left to right through each act. The core loop is classic Sonic: collect rings to survive, avoid or spin‐dash into enemies, gather speed on slopes, and reach the goal post at the end of the act.
New players should know that rings are your only buffer against damage - getting hit without rings means losing a life. Checkpoints also reappear from the original game, so keep an eye out for the star posts. Because this is a hack, you might encounter unexpected enemy patterns, rearranged spikes, or altered level geometry. Take it slow at first to learn the new layouts.
