Sonic 1 Beta Remake

Getting started is simple: load the ROM in your browser and press Enter to start. You control Sonic through a series of levels, each with their own layout and enemies. The core loop involves running from left to right, avoiding obstacles, collecting rings, and reaching the goal sign at the end of each act. Rings protect you from damage, but losing them all costs a life.

The physics and level design in this remake closely follow the beta build, which means some areas may feel less polished than the final game. Spindash is not available in this version, so you'll rely on rolling into a ball by pressing down while running. Watch for bottomless pits and spikes, and remember that the level order matches the early prototype rather than the retail release.

Since this is a ROM hack, the menus are in English and straightforward. The emulator handles saving through save states, but the game itself has no built-in save feature. Treat it like the original Sonic 1 - play through the zones in sequence, and don't expect any modern conveniences like a level select without cheats.
