Shining in the Darkness

When you boot Shining in the Darkness, you'll be in the town of Thornwood. Talk to the king and locals to get quests and stock up on gear. Your goal is to explore the labyrinth beneath the town, a massive multi-floor dungeon filled with monsters, traps, and secrets. The core loop is straightforward: you guide a party of three adventurers through corridors in first-person view. Movement is tile-based, and battles are turn-based random encounters. You need to manage hit points, magic points, and equipment carefully. Save often at the church - the dungeon can be brutal. A few tips: early on, focus on buying a decent weapon and armor before heading deep. Keep a supply of healing herbs. If your party wipes, you'll lose half your gold, so it's smart to bank money at the inn. Mapping the floors on graph paper (or using your memory) helps avoid getting lost.
