Rouge the Bat in Sonic 1
Rouge the Bat in Sonic 1 - Platformer Classic
Rouge the Bat in Sonic 1 is a ROM hack of the classic SEGA Genesis game Sonic the Hedgehog, created for a fan event or competition (likely from the 2019 Sonic Hacking Contest expo). It replaces the main character with Rouge the Bat, a character from the later Sonic Adventure series. This is not an official Sega release; it's a fan-made modification that swaps Sonic's sprite, and possibly some audio or level elements, to fit Rouge's design. The hack was built for the original SEGA Genesis hardware and is playable on emulators or flash carts.
How to Play Rouge the Bat in Sonic 1 Online
Getting Started
Rouge the Bat in Sonic 1 plays almost identically to the original Sonic the Hedgehog. You control Rouge through Green Hill Zone and beyond, collecting rings, defeating badniks, and reaching the goal plate at the end of each act. The physics, level layouts, and general progression are unchanged from the 1991 classic. Your main objective is to complete all six zones (each with three acts) and defeat Dr. Robotnik at the end.
The only notable difference is the character swap: Rouge has her own sprite, and some animations or sound effects may be altered to match her appearance. Since this is a hack, menus and text remain in English (as they were in the original Sonic 1). Use the D-Pad to move, press the assigned jump button to spin-dash by holding down and then pressing jump, and homing attack is not present (this is still classic Sonic mechanics). If you're familiar with Sonic 1, you'll feel right at home.
