Getting Started

First, pick your team from a roster of mutant squads like the Slayers or the Demons. The game presents a standard play-calling screen showing offensive and defensive options - run, pass, punt, and special plays. Once the ball snaps, the action plays like regular football but with much looser rules. You can punch, trip, or even stomp opponents after the whistle, and the referees will periodically accept bribes to look the other way.

The core loop is simple: drive down the field and score touchdowns while using violence to disable opposing players. Each quarter has a set number of downs, but the game also includes a "death" system where knocked-out mutants stay down for a few plays. You can also trigger special items (like an exploding ball or a pump shotgun) by picking them up on the field. Winning requires both strategic football decisions and a willingness to break the rules.

New players should start with the tutorial option if available, which explains the unique bribe mechanic and weapon pickups. Otherwise, jump into exhibition mode to get a feel for the exaggerated physics and loose controls. Managing your health bar is critical, as a badly damaged quarterback will throw wobbly passes or even fumble on contact.
