Mick & Mack as the Global Gladiators (USA)
Mick & Mack as the Global Gladiators (USA) Overview
Mick & Mack as the Global Gladiators is a side-scrolling platformer released for the Sega Genesis in 1993. It's a licensed game built around an environmentally-friendly theme, a rarity for the era. The premise puts you in the shoes of two kids, Mick and Mack, who are guided by Ronald McDonald to fight pollution across four worlds.
You run and jump through side-scrolling levels while attacking pollution-themed monsters. The main weapon is a goo gun that shoots globs of clean goo to defeat enemies and clear environmental hazards. Each world ends with a boss fight against a major pollutant. Ronald McDonalds appears between stages to offer encouragement and advance the thin story.
As a Genesis platformer, Global Gladiators is decent but not exceptional. Its novelty comes from the McDonald's branding and the eco-friendly message, which was unusual for a fast-food tie-in. The game is short and straightforward, making it a fun curiosity for collectors and retro enthusiasts who want a quick, themed playthrough.
How to Play Mick & Mack as the Global Gladiators (USA) Online
To begin, press Start at the title screen. You control either Mick or Mack (both play identically). The goal is to run through each side-scrolling level, defeating pollution monsters with your goo gun and reaching the end. Each world has three stages plus a boss. The first world is a toxic waste dump, followed by a swamp, an arctic area, and finally a factory. You have a health bar that depletes when hit by enemies or hazards. Collect golden arches to restore health.
The core loop is simple: move right, shoot enemies, avoid obstacles, and collect items. The goo gun can be fired in the direction you face. You can also jump on enemies to stun them. The game gives you a life count and continues after losing all lives. There is no password or save system, so completing it in one sitting is expected.
