Lemmings 2 - The Tribes is a puzzle game that landed on the SEGA Genesis in the mid-1990s. This sequel to the original Lemmings retains the core idea of guiding a horde of oblivious green-haired creatures to safety. The USA version brings the same frantic logic puzzles that made the series famous to a 16-bit console audience. Players direct lemmings through each level by assigning them different jobs or "classes" that are new to this game. Instead of just a few skill types, you now have access to builders, miners, climbers, swimmers, and more. The goal remains getting a certain number of lemmings from the start to the exit while they mindlessly march forward. You have to time your interventions carefully because the lemmings don't stop or think for themselves. The addition of multiple tribes and specialized classes gives this game more variety than its predecessor. Each level feels like a fresh brain teaser with new hazards and routes. If you enjoyed the original Lemmings, this sequel offers the same clever, addictive design with extra depth. It holds up today as a classic puzzle game that tests patience and planning in equal measure.

How to play Lemmings 2 - The Tribes online

Getting Started

When you start a level, lemmings pour out of a trapdoor. Your job is to make sure enough of them reach the exit. Before they start moving, you can pause the flow and select a skill from the bar at the bottom of the screen. Click on the skill icon, then click on a lemming to assign that ability. For example, give a builder the task of constructing a bridge over a gap.

Each level tells you how many lemmings you need to save. If too many fall off edges or get trapped, you fail. The key is to assign the right class at the right moment. Some skills are limited in number, so you have to budget carefully. Pay attention to the layout and figure out which route works best before the lemmings stampede past.

You can also use the D-Pad to scroll the screen and look ahead. The game gives you a time limit, so keep moving. After completing a level, you receive a password that lets you resume from that point later. Write it down if you plan to come back later.
