Homing attack and jumpdash in Sonic 2

Getting Started: As with the original Sonic the Hedgehog 2, you control Sonic (and sometimes Tails) through side-scrolling levels. The core loop remains: run, jump on enemies, collect rings, reach the goal post. The big difference here is the addition of the homing attack and the jumpdash. Press the jump button in the air near an enemy to perform the homing attack, which locks on and strikes it. The jumpdash lets you launch forward in midair, giving you extra horizontal reach. Start by selecting a save slot or just pressing Start to jump into the first level, Emerald Hill Zone. The game plays exactly like Sonic 2 except for the new moves. You can experiment with them right away. If you're used to stock Sonic 2, remember that the homing attack replaces the usual rolling jump interaction, so adapt your timing. The jumpdash is especially useful for clearing gaps or reaching higher platforms without Spin Dash momentum. Since this is a hack, there are no official manuals. The menus are in English and identical to the original, so navigation is straightforward. The hack does not alter the level order or story. Just treat it as Sonic 2 with extra combat and mobility options.
