Getting to Know Earthworm Jim 2 (USA)
Earthworm Jim 2 landed on the SEGA Genesis in 1995, a direct follow-up to the original game that made everyone take notice with its off-the-wall humor and hand-drawn animation. Developed by Shiny Entertainment and published by Playmates Interactive Entertainment, this side-scrolling platformer built on everything that made the first title a cult hit. It arrived at a time when the Genesis library was full of serious action games, but Jim stood out by leaning hard into weirdness and cartoon physics.
How to Play Earthworm Jim 2 (USA) Online
You start on a map screen showing several levels. Picking one drops Jim into a side-scrolling stage where you move left and right, jump over pits and enemies, and use your whip to attack. Each level has its own gimmick - one might be a high-speed chase, another a vertical climb - so expect the rules to change often. The core loop is simple: survive the stage, collect health and extra lives, and reach the end to move on.
New players should know that Jim can also shoot his blaster for long-range attacks, but the whip is usually faster and more reliable. Watch out for environmental hazards like spikes and collapsing platforms. If you die, you restart from the last checkpoint, and the game uses passwords to continue from where you left off. Take your time exploring; some levels hide bonus areas that give extra lives or points.
