EA Hockey (Europe)
EA Hockey (Europe) on Genesis
EA Hockey on the Sega Genesis is a European-exclusive sports title that swaps out the licensed NHL rosters found in the American version of NHL Hockey in favor of international teams. Released sometime in the early 1990s by Electronic Arts, it brings the same fast-paced arcade-style ice hockey gameplay to European players but with a roster of national squads instead of club franchises. The game was built on the same engine as its North American counterpart, meaning the core mechanics and presentation will feel very familiar to anyone who has played the original NHL Hockey.
How to Play EA Hockey (Europe) Online
After selecting your team from the international roster (such as Sweden, Canada, or USSR), you jump into a five-on-five hockey match with two three-minute periods. The core loop is puck control, passing to open teammates, and shooting when you have a clear lane. Use the Y button for a speed burst to evade defenders, and the B button for a hard body check to knock opponents off the puck. Face-offs restart play after each goal or period, and you can change player lines by pressing Start and using the D-Pad during a stoppage. There is no save feature, so plan to complete a full game in one sitting.
