Burning Force is a vertical shoot-em-up for the Sega Genesis, released in North America during the console's early years. Published by Sega, it casts players as Hiromi, a trainee at the Earth Space Academy preparing for six days of intense action. The game is an official retail release, not a hack or mod. The core gameplay follows the classic shmup formula: you pilot a ship scrolling upward through six stages, each representing a day of training. Enemies swarm from all directions, and you must dodge their fire while shooting back. Power-ups appear to enhance your weapons, and each stage ends with a boss encounter. The training theme gives the progression a structured feel. Burning Force fits comfortably among early Genesis shooters like Truxton or Arrow Flash. It doesn't reinvent the wheel but offers solid arcade-style action with a unique premise. If you enjoy fast-paced shoot-em-ups from the 16-bit era, this is a worthwhile title to check out, especially for its distinctive Hiromi character and soundtrack.
