How to play Australian Rugby League online
Getting Started
Boot the game and you'll see a title screen. Press Start to proceed to the main menu. You can choose from a selection of international teams--options like Australia, Great Britain, New Zealand, and others. Pick your side and then either select a quick match or, if available, a tournament mode. The game's menus are straightforward and mostly in English, so you won't need a guide.
Once the match starts, you control the player nearest the ball. Use the D-pad to move, press the B button to run or tackle, and the A button for passing or confirming selections. The core loop is simple: advance the ball by passing to teammates, avoid defenders, and try to ground the ball over the try line for points. On defence, you need to stop the ball carrier by timing your tackles. Each team gets six tackles to score or gain ground before turning over possession.
There's not much depth beyond that--no complicated playbooks or special moves. Just pick your team, kick off, and play straight rugby league. If you want a proper challenge, set the difficulty higher or try the tournament mode to see if you can win the cup. The game is perfectly playable today and works well with the keyboard controls mapped above.
