Asterix and the Great Rescue (USA)

Jump right into the action by pressing Start to begin a new game. You control Asterix as he runs and jumps across multiple levels, fighting Roman soldiers with his fists and collected power-ups. The core loop involves moving from left to right, defeating enemies, avoiding hazards like pits and spikes, and reaching the level's exit. Watch your health bar - getting hit shrinks it, and losing all health costs you a life.

Pay attention to the item pickups scattered around: some restore health, others grant temporary invincibility or a throwing attack. The game is fairly straightforward for a platformer of its era, but the later stages ramp up the difficulty with tighter jumps and more aggressive enemies. If you get stuck, you can use the Select button to cycle through any available continues before the game over screen appears.
