An Apeeling Sonic Hack

Getting started

Boot up the hack and you'll see a familiar title screen but with noticeable changes. If it's an ape-themed hack, you'll likely control a monkey-like character instead of Sonic. The core objective remains the same: move from left to right, collect rings, defeat enemies by jumping on them or rolling, and reach the goal sign at the end of each act. Watch out for spikes, pits, and bosses at the end of zones.

Since this is a hack, controls behave exactly like the original Sonic the Hedgehog game - press A (X key) to jump, hold down while jumping for a Spin Dash if available, and use the D-Pad to move. The main differences will be in level design, enemy placement, and possibly the character's hitbox or abilities. If the hack adds new mechanics, they are not widely documented, but expect familiar speed-based platforming with a goofy twist.

New players should start by testing the jump and spin dash to get used to the physics. Because it's a hack, some parts might be unbalanced or have odd collision, so save your game using emulator savestates if possible. The game is in English, so no language barriers.
