Super Raiden
Super Raiden: PCE-CD Shooter
Super Raiden is a vertical-scrolling shooter released for the NEC PC Engine CD in Japan in 1992. It is an enhanced port of the classic arcade game Raiden, originally developed by Seibu Kaihatsu. This version takes advantage of the PC Engine CD's hardware to deliver improved graphics and CD-quality audio, making it a sought-after title for fans of the genre. The game was exclusively released in Japan.
How to Play Super Raiden Online
When you launch the game, you will see a title screen in Japanese. Press Enter (Start) to proceed to the main menu, where you can select 1 Player or 2 Player co-op using the D-Pad and confirm with X (A button). If a configuration menu appears, use V (Select) to choose options and Enter to confirm.
Once in the game, you pilot a fighter jet through scrolling stages filled with enemy aircraft and ground units. Use the D-Pad to move, X to fire your main weapon, and S to drop a bomb that clears the screen of enemies. Collect power-up icons to upgrade your weapon (Spread or Laser) and missiles for additional firepower. The core loop is to survive each wave, defeat mid-stage and stage-end bosses, and progress through the game. Since menus are in Japanese, memorize the layout or use trial and error to navigate options.
Your goal is to achieve the highest score possible while completing all stages. The game has an infinite continue option, so practice makes perfect. Focus on learning enemy patterns and power-up locations to maximize your survival and score.
