Nexzr
Nexzr - Shooter Classic
Nexzr is a vertically scrolling shoot 'em up released in 1992 by Naxat for the NEC PC Engine Super CD-ROM² system. This is an official commercial title that came out exclusively in Japan, taking advantage of the CD-ROM format's enhanced storage for improved graphics and audio. The game represents the mid-era of 16-bit shmups, where developers were pushing colorful sprite work and faster-paced action on home consoles.
How to Play Nexzr Online
Getting Started
Start the game and press Enter to begin. You control a small spacecraft that moves in eight directions using the arrow keys. The action is pure vertical scrolling - enemies and obstacles stream downward, and you must dodge bullets while shooting back with your main weapon. Hold X to fire continuously. The game is a Japanese import, so menus and text are entirely in Japanese, but the interface is simple enough that you can start playing by just hitting Enter and moving around.
Your ship has a limited number of lives; when you are hit, you lose a life and restart from a checkpoint. Power-up items appear from destroyed enemies, typically enhancing your shot or adding a secondary weapon. The goal is to survive each stage and defeat the end-level boss. There are no continues or save states in the original game, so practice is key. Use the emulator's save state feature if you need a break.
