Mine Sweeper

Getting started: The game presents a grid of hidden tiles, some concealing mines. Your goal is to uncover all safe tiles without triggering any mine. Use the D-pad to move a cursor over the grid and press the confirm button (A button mapped to X key) to reveal a tile. If that tile is safe, it will show a number indicating how many mines are adjacent; use these numbers to deduce where mines are hidden. Mark suspected mines by selecting a tile and using the cancel button (B button mapped to S key) to place a flag - this helps track dangerous spots.

Start on a beginner difficulty with a smaller grid to learn the logic. The core loop is simple: reveal tiles, study the numbers, and flag mines. If you reveal a mine, the game ends. The PC Engine CD version may include a basic title screen and menu, but if it is in Japanese, look for kanji like 初級 (beginner), 中級 (intermediate), 上級 (advanced) to choose difficulty. No timers or penalties for wrong flags - only revealing a mine ends the game. Take your time to think through each move.
