Inside Hihou Densetsu Chris no Bouken

"Hihou Densetsu Chris no Bouken" is a Japanese-exclusive title for the NEC PC Engine CD, released during the early 1990s when CD-ROM gaming was still a novelty. The exact developer and publisher are not widely documented, but it belongs to the action-platformer genre common on the platform. As an import only release, it never saw an official localization for Western markets, making it a niche piece of the PC Engine library. The player controls a character named Chris, navigating side-scrolling levels filled with enemies and obstacles. Typical for the era and genre, the gameplay revolves around running, jumping, and attacking foes while collecting items and power-ups. The CD format allowed for higher quality audio than cartridge games, so expect a soundtrack that stands out. Specific mechanics beyond these basics are not well recorded, but the core loop is consistent with action games of the time. Today, "Hihou Densetsu Chris no Bouken" is worth checking out for collectors and retro enthusiasts curious about the less-traveled corners of the PC Engine CD catalog. It has a modest following among import fans, though it is not as polished or famous as major titles like "Castlevania: Rondo of Blood." If you enjoy exploring obscure Japanese action games, this one offers a solid, if straightforward, experience typical of its era.

Collecting items may restore health or grant temporary power-ups. The password or save system, if any, is unclear; expect to rely on continuous play or limited saves typical of early CD games.

Being a Japanese-only title, all menus and on-screen text are in Japanese. If you cannot read the language, trial and error will get you through.
