How to play SWIV online
Getting Started
When you launch SWIV, you are dropped straight into the action. The game expects you to pick up and play immediately. Use the D-Pad (Arrow Keys) to steer your helicopter upward and laterally across the scrolling battlefield. Press S (B button) to fire your main weapon at the enemies flooding in from above and the sides.
The core loop is straightforward: survive each level by destroying as many enemies as possible while avoiding their bullets and obstacles. Power-ups drop from certain enemies; fly over them to collect. Different power-ups change your weapon spread, add a secondary gunner, or give you temporary invincibility. You have a limited number of lives (usually three), and losing them all ends the game.
New players should focus on learning enemy patterns and memorising where power-ups spawn. There is no saving, so each attempt is a fresh run. The game moves fast, so keep your finger on the fire button and try to position your helicopter near the bottom of the screen to give yourself room to dodge incoming shots. If you see a flashing enemy, destroy it quickly - it often drops a valuable upgrade.

SWIV FAQ
Who developed SWIV?
The original 1991 version was developed and published by The Sales Curve, a British studio known for their arcade conversions. The Game Boy Color port was handled by a different team, but the core design remains the same.
What makes SWIV stand out among Game Boy Color titles of its era?
It stands out for being a rare vertical shooter on the platform that actually runs smoothly. Many GBC shooters suffer from slowdown, but SWIV manages decent scrolling and responsive controls, making it a solid pick for fans of the genre.
Roughly how long does it take to finish SWIV?
A typical run through all stages takes around 20 to 30 minutes, depending on skill level. The game is tough, so most players will need several attempts before seeing the credits.
