Inside Rocket Power - Gettin' Air

Rocket Power - Gettin' Air is a Game Boy Color game based on the Nickelodeon cartoon series about a group of friends who love extreme sports. It hit shelves in 2001, published by THQ for the North American market. If you remember the show, this was one of several licensed games trying to bring its high-energy vibe to handhelds. You take control of one of the main characters from the show, like Otto or Reggie, and work through levels that mix platforming with sports challenges. The core loop involves moving left to right while avoiding obstacles and pulling off tricks on your skateboard, inline skates, or other gear. You earn points for landing clean tricks, which unlocks new areas or goals. The controls are simple, using the D-pad for movement and the A button to jump or confirm actions. As a licensed title from the early 2000s, it won't wow anyone with depth or polish, but it captures the spirit of the show for fans. Compared to other cartoon adaptations on the GBC, it's fairly average - short levels and simple objectives. Still, if you grew up watching Rocket Power, this is a fun little nostalgia trip that plays well on a bus ride or during a break between school activities.

How to play Rocket Power - Gettin' Air online

Getting Started When you start the game, you'll see a title screen and a menu where you can choose a character or start a new game. Use the D-pad to navigate and press X to confirm. The game doesn't have a lot of text, so even if you've never played it before, the options are straightforward. The main objective in each level is to make it from the start to the end while collecting items and performing tricks. You move with the D-pad, press X to jump over gaps or onto rails, and use the B button to accelerate or perform special moves. Timing your jumps and tricks is key to earning high scores and unlocking bonus areas. A few tips for new players: watch for ramps and rails that let you catch air - that's where you get the most points. Also, keep an eye on your health bar; bumping into obstacles or falling will drain it. If you lose all health, you have to restart the level. There are no continues, so take it slow until you learn the layouts.
