Getting to Know NBA Show Time - NBA on NBC

NBA Show Time - NBA on NBC on Game Boy Color is a portable adaptation of Midway's 1999 arcade basketball game. It brings the fast-paced, arcade-style action of the NBA to Nintendo's handheld, featuring real teams and players from the league. The game takes its name and presentation style from NBC's NBA pregame show, just like the arcade original. This entry is part of Midway's legendary basketball series that includes NBA Jam and NBA Hangtime. You select an NBA team and compete in head-to-head basketball matches against AI or another player via link cable. The gameplay is arcade-oriented, with simplified rules, turbo boosts, and exaggerated dunks. The core loop involves moving the ball up the court, passing, shooting, and playing defense with an emphasis on fast breaks and high scores. The Game Boy Color version adapts the controls and visuals to the handheld's hardware, offering a condensed but faithful experience. For fans of retro sports games, this is a solid portable arcade basketball title. While the graphics are naturally less impressive than the arcade version, the core gameplay holds up well. It is a decent pick for anyone looking for quick basketball action on the go, and it represents a notable entry in Midway's arcade sports legacy on Nintendo handhelds.
