Muppets, The - Platformer Classic

The Muppets (USA) is a side-scrolling platformer released for the Game Boy Color in 2000. It stars Kermit the Frog and Animal as they travel through different time periods to rescue the rest of the Muppets. The game is part of the late-90s wave of licensed titles for Nintendo's handheld, aimed at fans of the classic puppet franchise. The core gameplay is straightforward: guide Kermit and Animal through linear levels, jumping on enemies and avoiding obstacles. Each stage ends with freeing a captured Muppet, which progresses the story. Players can expect typical platformer elements like collectible items, health pickups, and simple puzzles. The time-travel premise adds variety to the level themes, though the mechanics remain familiar to anyone who has played a Game Boy Color platformer. For Muppets fans and retro collectors, this is a charming but simple addition to the handheld's library. It doesn't break new ground, but it captures the characters' personalities well and provides a decent few hours of play. If you enjoy casual platformers from that era, it's worth a look for the novelty of controlling Kermit and Animal through history.

How to play Muppets, The online

Getting Started: Start the game and choose a time period from the main hub. The game is a standard side-scrolling platformer - move right, jump over gaps, and defeat enemies by landing on them or using your attack. Collect stars and other items for extra points or health. Each level ends with rescuing a Muppet, which unlocks the next area. There isn't a deep tutorial; the game teaches you as you play. Experiment with both characters - Kermit and Animal may have subtle differences in jump height or attack power, though the core loop is the same. Keep an eye on your health bar and grab any healing items you find. If you get stuck, revisit earlier levels to practice or gather more lives.
