Getting Started

When you boot up MTV Sports - Pure Ride, you're greeted with a title screen and a menu where you can pick a pro rider or a custom character. The core loop is selecting an event type (slopestyle, halfpipe, or big air) and then running through a qualifying or competition run to score points. In slopestyle you hit rails and jumps, in halfpipe you perform tricks going up and down the pipe, and in big air you launch off a giant kicker to land the most stylish trick.

Each event gives you a few attempts to post your best score. You control your rider's speed and position using the D-Pad, and you press the A or B buttons to ollie, grab, or spin. Timing is crucial: press the buttons just as you leave a jump to pull off tricks, and land cleanly to avoid crashing. The game tracks your score based on trick difficulty and landing quality.

A new player should start with slopestyle because it's the most forgiving - you have multiple hits in one run. Don't mash buttons; learn the rhythm of each jump and experiment with different grab and spin combos. If you fall, you lose time and points, so favor clean landings over maximum risk until you get a feel for the physics.
