Come-Cocos (Ms. Pac-Man) ('Made in Greece' Herle SA bootleg) [Bootleg]
Getting to Know Come-Cocos (Ms. Pac-Man) ('Made in Greece' Herle SA bootleg) [Bootleg]
Come-Cocos is an unlicensed bootleg of Ms. Pac-Man that was produced in Greece by Herle SA for arcade cabinets. It appeared sometime in the mid-to-late 1980s, a period when unauthorized clones and hardware pirate boards were common in certain regions. This is not an official release from Namco or Midway; it is a direct copy with the artwork and title changed to avoid detection, though the core game remains the same.
The player controls a yellow circle with a bow, navigating a series of mazes while eating all the dots to clear a stage. Four colored ghosts patrol the maze and will kill the player on contact unless a power pellet is eaten first, which turns the ghosts blue and lets the player eat them for bonus points. The game also includes bonus fruits that appear periodically. The layout, ghost AI, and scoring are identical to the original Ms. Pac-Man, though the bootleg may have slight graphical or timing differences.
For collectors and historians of arcade bootlegs, Come-Cocos is a fascinating piece of gaming piracy from Greece. It does not offer any new content or improved mechanics; it is simply Ms. Pac-Man under a different name. If you have already played the original there is no new gameplay here, but it is worth a quick look to see how Herle SA adapted the arcade board and what subtle changes they made to the title screen and graphics.
How to Play Come-Cocos (Ms. Pac-Man) ('Made in Greece' Herle SA bootleg) [Bootleg] Online
Getting Started
When you launch the game, press Enter to start a game. The screen will show the classic Ms. Pac-Man maze with the player character in the center. Use the Arrow Keys (D-Pad) to move Ms. Pac-Man up, down, left, and right. Your goal is to eat all the small white dots in the maze while avoiding the four ghosts. The ghosts start in a central pen and emerge one by one.
Eat any of the four larger flashing dots (power pellets) near the corners of the maze to temporarily turn the ghosts blue. While they are blue you can eat them for bonus points, but they will quickly change back to their normal colors. After eating all dots on a stage, you advance to a new maze with a slightly different layout. The game continues until you lose all your lives by touching a non-blue ghost.
There are no menus to navigate; the game starts directly into the action. If you need to change settings or add credits, press V (Select) to enter the test mode if the cabinet supports it, but on most emulated versions the game simply begins. The bootleg may have a different title screen saying "Come-Cocos" instead of "Ms. Pac-Man", but the controls and rules are identical to the original arcade game.
